FiberQA attended our very first ECOC last week, in Düsseldorf, Germany. We were thrilled to show off our fiber optic inspection and cleaning equipment on the show floor, and talk face to face with old friends, colleagues, and new customers alike.
Here are our top THREE highlights from ECOC this year:
1. We debuted our brand new AVIT-dt. AVIT systems automatically inspect and clean dozens of ferrule end faces without any human intervention. The AVIT-dt has a 5”x5” inspection window that can be configured any way you want it, while a standing AVIT system has a 20”x20” window that can accept carts. Every single ferrule is passed or failed, cleaned, and archived for quality control, in just a fraction of the time it takes traditional fiber scopes to inspect only a few ferrules.
2. With our AVIT-dt at the show, we were also able to show off our re-designed end-face cleaning cartridges that are used in all of our AVIT systems. The integrated cleaning capability of our fiber scopes is an industry-first, and are a necessary addition to any quality control inspection cycle. Integrating the cleaning into the cycle eliminates additional part handling that can lead to damage, as well as the high labor costs and time delays incurred by manual clean/re-inspect interruptions.
3. Last, but never least, we debuted our new fixture for inspecting transceivers on our FastMT fiber scope. We provided demos to dozens of onlookers who were interested in a stationary fiber scope. Our long working distance allows us to inspect the transceivers without breeching the bulkhead, providing a repeatable, reproducible, and reliable test result that isn’t achieved with hand held probes. The long working distance also helps prevent any possible part damage, and helps to significantly speed up the inspection process while decreasing labor costs.
