Demo New AVIT Models at OFC in LA

Posted by Rachael Cates on Mar 13, 2017 9:14:09 PM

We are always excited to attend industry events, but we are absolutely chomping at the bit for next week’s OFC show in Los Angeles! Our company’s main goal is to revolutionize and automate the way manufacturers and consumers inspect and clean their cable connectors, and our brand new AVIT-dt and AVIT-bp systems continue that legacy. OFC will be the very first public debut of the AVIT-bp system and this will be the first time we will have an AVIT-dt at the show (though you may have gotten a peak at it during ECOC or AVFOP).

AVIT-bp (left) is the first automated probe that operates independently from the operator to inspect and clean the backplane of a chassis. Anyone who has used a probe style fiber scope to inspect a high density, large ferrule count connector (such as a D38999) knows how time consuming and difficult it can be. The AVIT-bp boasts long working distance optics that remain outside of the connector shell, does not require special adapters, and has an integrated cleaner making the task of inspecting and cleaning pins and inserts much easier. Combining inspection and cleaning into one automated system that goes to the connectors instead of the other way around, significantly cuts down on time and labor costs.

The other new system you can demo at OFC is an automated (of course!), multi-ferrule, desktop inspection system with integrated cleaning, otherwise known as the AVIT-dt (right). The ease and automation of AVIT-dt allows operators to conduct an entire week’s worth of testing and cleaning in just a couple of hours of passive operation. With a large 5”x5” inspection window, the AVIT-dt allows a great deal of versatility, while providing high throughput, all in a system that can fit on a workbench. The AVIT-dt has the optical working distance and range of motion to inspect the fibers of pin or insert termini of MIL-38999, EPX and other multi-ferrule connectors. Time and labor to inspect and clean go down, while quality and safety of the parts being inspected is increased.

As always, we will have FastMT (below) systems to demo at our booth. The single-ferrule desktop fiber scope combines highly customizable settings and test parameters with lightning fast speeds. Watch us demonstrate live as connectors are inspected at an astonishing rate of .5-1 second per fiber! FastMT can inspect a wide variety of connectors, including MT UPC & APC, MPO UPC & APC, SC, LC, and more. Our innovative fixturing for transceiver connectors (like QSFP and CPAK) utilizes the long working distance optics of the FastMT to inspect the connector without using a probe within the bulkhead. Operators can view an entire ferrule on one screen, and conduct an inspection with the click of button…no focusing, no scrolling, no guessing. Print out a single page report that provides the documented quality assurance that cannot be rivaled by any other fiber scope on the market.

Please swing by booth #2830 at OFC next week, 21-23 March 2017 to check out the new AVIT-bp system and get a live demo on an AVIT-dt or FastMT…we think you will be blown away! Contact us at sales@fiberqa.com to setup a meeting ahead of time, or just stop by the booth and say hello to our team of experts.
